Mummy – Make Me a Minion: Kitchen Crazy Food Fun – Marshmallow Minions – #motivationalmonday

I think pretty much everyone I know loves the Minions from Despicable Me – they are everywhere.  When Jess and I was these on Pinterest, we had to have a go at making them ourselves. Blue candy melts //  yellow candy melts //  white chocolate //  milk chocolate I find the best way when melting multiple colours of chocolate is to pop them all in a big pan an a very low heat after the water has come to the boil, and leave theme there, stirring regularly until fully melted.  I love using these cheap plastic jugs.  They are around […]

Spring has sprung: Goodbye February Hello March – Hello Sun! – fun days out #motivationalmonday

For me, spring is an opportunity to get outside.  I love looking at pics of others having muddy welly splashing adventures, but that’s just not possible or us, as I’d either sink or short circuit. This weekend was the first time this year that I really felt spring was on it’s way, and we had a lovely day out to celebrate! The Spinnaker Tower is the biggest landmark at Gun Wharf Quays in Portsmouth, where we started our day.  It was supposed to be built for the Millennium, but did not open till October 2005.  We did go up to […]

Sharing the love: live and let live – an end to discrimination and hatred – one person at a time #motivationalmonday

Happy Monday lovelies!  For our last Monday in February – our month to show and share our love, I really want to go a little further afield.  Outside the home, outside our country and across the globe.  Don’t stop reading just yet – I’m not proposing a movement or a mass love in, just a little tolerance. Here’s the good news: peoples attitudes to diversity are slowly changing.  Whether you’re championing your own cause, such as disability or special needs, or another more personal to yourself, it is a rare person that doesn’t have a ’cause’ that’s close to their […]

Taking care of our relationship, our health, having fun and letting go – #motivationalmonday

It’s a late entry from me today – mostly because I have spent the whole day having a jolly good time. Both in the wake of Valentines day, and with our February caveat of treasuring those we love, J and I have been to a local spa for the day, where we swam, steamed and jacuzzi’d our cares away.  This is not an everyday thing for us, but I think it is really important for Mums and Dads (or Mums and new partners in the case of blended families, as in ours) to take time out and look after their […]

Listening to my body and asking for help – being kind to me #motivationalmonday

Hey guys – happy Monday!  I’ve been a little under the weather lately – so apologies for the late post.  A burst of productivity last week meant that I was able to get some blogging done and schedule some posts during the week, but I’ve now caught up with myself.  I know in previous posts I have mentioned tests etc going on at the moment.  They are, more than anything because I have no idea what is going on with my body, so the professionals have been sent in, so to speak.  The problem with having several co-morbid conditions (conditions […]

A cup of tea and a biscuit: treasuring those you love – spread a little happiness #motivationalmonday

When Joy at Pinkoddy gave us the theme ‘spread a little happiness’ for February, I was thrilled!  I have been undergoing a bit of a transformation in the way I try to look at things of late, and anything would be a step up from ‘a slightly shorter version of January’ as a way to look at the month of February.  In the past I have scoffed at the Valentines month – writing it off as a ‘reason to sell greetings cards’.  Gosh – I can be a grump!  So, as part of spreading the love this month, and to […]

Cooking from scratch: one meal two ways – meatballs #motivationalmonday

I love motivational Monday – it’s such a great way to start my week, and really reminds me to hit the ground running (so to speak) after the weekend.  This time last week I posted about my appalling eating habits heading to lethargy and thickness in the waist (and in the head most days), so this week I have really been making an effort to eat better, and eat more regularly. When my kids were smaller, I often batch-cooked meals on a Sunday and froze them for the week.  Now I am battling a disability rather than two toddlers, but […]

Healthy eating: eating more, eating better – adding colour to my kitchen #motivationalmonday

That’s right you heard me – eating more! Whenever I’ve been on a d….d….healthy eating plan, the thing I’ve noticed most is just how much you are compelled to eat.  Last time I did Weight Watchers, I actually struggled to eat the sheer amount of food that made up my points, and so eat more regularly throughout the day.  Now, the last sentence was a bit of a giveaway, I am a serial d…d…I’m often trying to lose weight.  Despite working very hard to be comfortable with myself; who I am, how I look, the size and weight I am, […]
