Weight loss with Diet Chef: week 1

Today is weigh in day for me, and after a week of eating surprisingly delicious Diet Chef meals my weight loss for week 1 is: On the Diet Chef plan, you can expect to lose 1-2lb per week so this was a really great surprise. At my first weigh in, before I started the plan, I was quite thrilled to see I had only gained 3lb since my last weight loss effort in June 2014.  I lost over a stone with Lighter Life Fast, so a loss of 4.4lb means I’m back on track.  I’m also looking for a more […]

Rocking the 5:2 diet: my weight loss journey so far with Lighterlife Fast #tryfast

And what a journey it’s been.  I started my quest for weight a little late, and not to auspiciously.  You can read the story so far here.  As a clipped summery, I stuck to the plan but actually put on weight.  After reviewing the facts, I realised I was pre-menstral and that water weight was to blame.  I’m so glad I took the time to take stock, as it urged me to stick with the plan.     I’ve been eating a healthy diet 5 days a week, with plenty of lean proteins, fruit and veg.  The other 2 days […]

Lighter life fast: the 5:2 diet with #lighterlifefast – my weight loss journey starts here #tryfast

Well, not quite here – officially (and actually) I started on Monday the 16th of June when I returned from my holiday (which I shall also be posting about shortly).  Two years + of takeaways and meals out have taken their toll on my waistline, and I know I would have gained on holiday as I ate indiscriminately (and plentifully) – as most of us do on holiday I think.       I’ve had limited success with weight loss since (and a little before) being diagnosed with my personal plethora of health problems, most of which mean I am […]

Guest post: healthy eating chilli recipe from bexx at steak and barbells

I was so thrilled when Bexx from Steak and Barbells  volunteered to guest post for me.  In some ways our blogs couldn’t be more different.  Bexx is a super fit gym bunny and I am a wheelchair bound chubster.  Thank heavens for food, a place where we can all come together in a love of good home cooked food.  My diet started yesterday, and my healthy eating repertoire will most definitely include this yummy chilli recipe!  Image source Chilli Recipe I love cooking and getting creative in the kitchen, but I don’t always have the time to spend hours doing […]

What’s the story morning glory? – my morning routine unravelled #MorningStories challenge

Mornings can be a whirlwind in any household.  We need to get so much done in such a short space of time, and all while half asleep.  I’ve done my years of lunchbox faffs and school uniform emergencies, and have learned that where possible it’s good to get things done the night before.  Food, clothes, bags of kit, whatever can be done in advance I do.  Despite this there are still some things which can only be done in the morning.  To that end, here’s a glimpse into mornings in my household. It’s all about me! Getting going in the […]

Cheese and onion popcorn and cinnamon popcorn recipes: Mustard Heat and Eat Popcorn Maker

I adore popcorn.  Sweet, savoury, and the sweet and savoury flavours that you’re not sure if you like, but you eat the whole pan so you must like it on some level.  I love pan popped and microwave popped, and I love the emergence of so-called ‘gourmet’ popcorn.  I’ve used the air pop machines before but always found the popcorn a little dry, whatever I do to it.  As a virtual connoisseur, I was excited to try the Mustard Popcorn Maker.* Using the same principles as the bags of microwave popcorn.  Heat, and something to stop the kernels flying all […]

Happy to be a #MorrisonsMum – our bank holiday shop with bells on

It’s bank holiday weekend.  For once in England the birds and shining and the sky is singing, and everything is pretty darn perfect.  That is especially true when you have a kitchen full of meals and treats to satisfy the pickiest family.   J and I went to Morrisons on Friday and shopped up a storm.  I adore Market Street in Morrisons, it’s how I remember shopping many many years ago when I was a girl but all in one place and without Maggie Thatcher trying to steal my milk.  Second to that awesome sight was the plethora of little […]

Healthy eating: eating more, eating better – adding colour to my kitchen #motivationalmonday

That’s right you heard me – eating more! Whenever I’ve been on a d….d….healthy eating plan, the thing I’ve noticed most is just how much you are compelled to eat.  Last time I did Weight Watchers, I actually struggled to eat the sheer amount of food that made up my points, and so eat more regularly throughout the day.  Now, the last sentence was a bit of a giveaway, I am a serial d…d…I’m often trying to lose weight.  Despite working very hard to be comfortable with myself; who I am, how I look, the size and weight I am, […]

Why I love…. Heinz Baked Beans

This is the first post in a new mini-series I shall be embarking on.  The concept is pretty simple, but I want to start adding a little more structure to my blog posting, and this is step one.  The ‘why I love…’ series is essentially me waxing lyrical about why I enjoy some fairly day to day things that are part of my life, and why I think they could make a welcome addition to yours, if they haven’t already.  I’m starting small, but I think that sometimes when we add up all the little things that make our life […]
