Me and you: me and J – how it all started

As regular readers will know, I am marrying the man of my dreams in August of this year.  Half of me can’t wait, and half of me is scared stiff.  Both of us are fairly quiet introverted people who don’t like the spotlight, so a wedding kind of goes against the grain a little.  What trumps that is that we love each other to bits and want to get married, so we’ve both decided to suck it up, so to speak.
When I saw the Me and You linky over at Tigerlilly Quinn, I knew it was the perfect opportunity to introduce my love to you properly, in the first of what I’m sure will be a slew of posts about the wedding preparations.  So here it is….

How it all began

It’s a very simple story really.  I was going through a really hard time, and trying to pull myself out of it by taking affirmative action.  One of the things I did to try and turn things around was to enroll in the local college as a mature student.  Prior to actually signing up for the Access to Higher Education course, I went to the college to find out about what was available, and there I found J (he works at the local college).  I asked him if he’d like to have a coffee, and the rest is pretty much history.
J moved in with me about a year ago, as he wasn’t really spending any time at his place, so I guess you could say we are a pretty modern couple.  I’ve been married before and have two children, but this will be J’s first (and only one would hope) roll of the dice.  We are very keen to have children ourselves too, but this will happen when the time is right.
And that’s us!  I won’t talk him up too much as he’ll get a big head, but needless to say he is a very good man, and I am so glad we found each other.
Thanks for reading.

  1. Very sweet story! My husband and I were the same way! We weren't sure if we wanted a wedding, but wanted to get married. We ended up having one and had the best time of our lives! It was so fun! We invited our families and closest friends, so it was an extremely large group of people either. Best wishes to you both!!

  2. Congratulations and thanks for sharing your lovely story. I know how you feel about the wedding – I felt exactly the same but when it came to it I absolutely loved the day and forgot to feel shy because I was so happy to have everyone I loved together in one place.

  3. My husband and I felt the same about a wedding but we really wanted to get married. We had a small wedding that was perfect for us and we're still happy 9 years later :)I wish you both all the best xx
