Longline cable jumper – New Look // Long chevron skirt – M&Co // Statement Brooch – Topshop
I’m bringing back some old favourites this week in an outfit that just worked so well. I’m wearing a plain tee underneath, but I didn’t take the jumper off all day, and I tend to run hot. It was perfect for the sort of in-between weather we are getting right now. We’re starting to see the sun, but it’s still cold. I personally prefer short sleeves. What I hope this outfit shows is how important the placing if the hemlines can be to the cohesion of an outfit, especially when you are going to be wearing it sitting down. I hate clothes that I have to be constantly pulling up or down, so for me a high waist and a long top are always a winner. I’ve also been experimenting more with tucking tops in when wearing separates, but in wheelchair fashion especially, this makes the placement of the waistband super important, as everything slides lower when you sit. Low rise just doesn’t work for me in wheelchair fashion – unless the item of clothing you want to showcase is your underwear!
With this jumper I love the unusual neckline. If it was a straight round-neck, I would wear a scarf or a statement necklace. As it is, the sweater was perfect for a gorgeous statement brooch I picked up recently at Topshop.
I hope you can see I am wearing the bow tie brooch – which I adore! I actually wore the other brooch with this skirt also, in a chevron/spotty print clash outfit.
Just a photo of the brooch on the blouse here – but it worked really well with the skirt. I am having tonnes of fun clashing prints right now, so I am sure I will showcase many more looks yet.
The outfit was completed with simple black ballet shoes, which are my go to everyday shoe. I want to do a focus on footwear for wheelchair fashion soon, with the big ‘to heel or not to heel’ debate. The answer to that one is actually really simple, but it should make an interesting post.
Much more to come friends – especially as I am attending some very exciting fashion focused events next week. In the meantime, if there are any looks you would like showcased or questions you would like me to answer, please just shout. Thanks for reading.
