A cup of tea and a biscuit: treasuring those you love – spread a little happiness #motivationalmonday

When Joy at Pinkoddy gave us the theme ‘spread a little happiness’ for February, I was thrilled!  I have been undergoing a bit of a transformation in the way I try to look at things of late, and anything would be a step up from ‘a slightly shorter version of January’ as a way to look at the month of February.  In the past I have scoffed at the Valentines month – writing it off as a ‘reason to sell greetings cards’.  Gosh – I can be a grump!  So, as part of spreading the love this month, and to […]

That’s the way love Goats: Delamere Dairy Goats Cheese – product review

I was recently very lucky to receive some wonderful products from Delamere Dairy, in the form of some lovely goats cheese.  I’m a real lover of more traditional goats cheeses myself, but what really excited me with this range was how family and child friendly the cheeses seemed to be.  I wasn’t disappointed! Medium hard cheese Plain log Spreadable The hard cheese was scrummy – and I used it just the way you would any other cheese.  We baked pizzas topped with grated hard cheese, and I topped my pasta and meatballs with it too.  The plain log is more […]

Cooking from scratch: one meal two ways – meatballs #motivationalmonday

I love motivational Monday – it’s such a great way to start my week, and really reminds me to hit the ground running (so to speak) after the weekend.  This time last week I posted about my appalling eating habits heading to lethargy and thickness in the waist (and in the head most days), so this week I have really been making an effort to eat better, and eat more regularly. When my kids were smaller, I often batch-cooked meals on a Sunday and froze them for the week.  Now I am battling a disability rather than two toddlers, but […]

Healthy eating: eating more, eating better – adding colour to my kitchen #motivationalmonday

That’s right you heard me – eating more! Whenever I’ve been on a d….d….healthy eating plan, the thing I’ve noticed most is just how much you are compelled to eat.  Last time I did Weight Watchers, I actually struggled to eat the sheer amount of food that made up my points, and so eat more regularly throughout the day.  Now, the last sentence was a bit of a giveaway, I am a serial d…d…I’m often trying to lose weight.  Despite working very hard to be comfortable with myself; who I am, how I look, the size and weight I am, […]

Fun food crafting for older kids: marshmallow trees

Anyone who’s been on pinterest, or pretty much anywhere on the net cannot fail to have noticed the preponderance of  ‘sweetie trees’ that are available to buy and make.  The concept is pretty simple, a little flower or tree shaped structure, with a globe of sweeties on the top, such as this: They are very popular, and great as gifts.  I had the idea of making some either with flowers or sweets (for the candy bar) for our wedding, so I purchased a quantity of polystyrene balls.  This is what makes up the interior.  During one fun day in our […]
