What’s the story morning glory? – my morning routine unravelled #MorningStories challenge

Mornings can be a whirlwind in any household.  We need to get so much done in such a short space of time, and all while half asleep.  I’ve done my years of lunchbox faffs and school uniform emergencies, and have learned that where possible it’s good to get things done the night before.  Food, clothes, bags of kit, whatever can be done in advance I do.  Despite this there are still some things which can only be done in the morning.  To that end, here’s a glimpse into mornings in my household. It’s all about me! Getting going in the […]

High End vs. High Street: Stretch Mark Treatments Put To the Test

It’s a big conundrum for many of us, does more expensive necessarily mean better?  Whether it’s food, beauty products or clothing and footwear, it’s hard to know whether buying cheap really does mean buying twice, or if you’re just paying for a brand.  In the first of a new series, I’m putting two products head to head to find out if it’s worth the splurge or if the budget product performs just as well. Before I start, I ought to state that my idea of luxury and that of Grazia, Vougue etc are very different.  As a cash strapped Mum, […]

Happy to be a #MorrisonsMum – our bank holiday shop with bells on

It’s bank holiday weekend.  For once in England the birds and shining and the sky is singing, and everything is pretty darn perfect.  That is especially true when you have a kitchen full of meals and treats to satisfy the pickiest family.   J and I went to Morrisons on Friday and shopped up a storm.  I adore Market Street in Morrisons, it’s how I remember shopping many many years ago when I was a girl but all in one place and without Maggie Thatcher trying to steal my milk.  Second to that awesome sight was the plethora of little […]

miamoo complete cleansing system: gentle enough for the most delicate skin

As my eldest child is now 14, I look back on the days when he and I would enjoy a bath together.  As a big baby, he didn’t like the little bath, but in the big bath he was in his element.  We had fun and giggles, and it was the only time he got relief from some really dreadful colic.  Needless to say, that meant we spent quite alot of time in the bath.   Before he was even born, I had a bathroom cabinet full of the leading branded baby products.  They seemed to smell of ‘baby’ and […]

Feminism and the modern family: access to education and contraception – Love and Marriage

With our impending nuptuals less than 4 months away, J (my fiance) and myself have had alot to think about.  Though our ponderings and priorities may vary, there is one thing for sure – we both want to get married, and for no reason other than we love each other very much and intend to spend the rest of our lives together.   I would like to begin the next paragraph ‘back in my Grandmas day’ or even ‘back in my Mothers day’ things were different, but for me personally I only need to rewind nearly 16 years to a […]

Low level play day: crafts and food play for exhausted and poorly parents – Easter Chicks and Home Made Sweets

Regular readers will be well aware of my seemingly near constant poorlyness.  For me, it’s all part of my plethora of interwoven conditions, several of which are auto immune.  This means I am constantly tired, hurting and incapacitated on some degree.  I’ve been particularly poorly of late after a nasty fall a few weeks ago so I have had to prioritise, delegate, pace, and make the most of the times I’m feeling ‘better’ (in chronic illness the word ‘better’ is a relative term, as you’re never really better). But time waits for no man, woman, or Mum – and as […]

Mummy – Make Me a Minion: Kitchen Crazy Food Fun – Marshmallow Minions – #motivationalmonday

I think pretty much everyone I know loves the Minions from Despicable Me – they are everywhere.  When Jess and I was these on Pinterest, we had to have a go at making them ourselves. Blue candy melts //  yellow candy melts //  white chocolate //  milk chocolate I find the best way when melting multiple colours of chocolate is to pop them all in a big pan an a very low heat after the water has come to the boil, and leave theme there, stirring regularly until fully melted.  I love using these cheap plastic jugs.  They are around […]

The less seemly side of the internet: safety on social networking for adults and children #cyberbullying

We are all familiar with with life’s dichotomies, the good with the bad, the wholesome with the disturbing, and the cake with the calories (damn you calories!).  I love the internet, there…I’ve said it.  If my fiancee ever accused me of extra-marital affairs, it would be with my laptop.  I just can’t get enough of the internet, with blogs and shopping and social media, and all those lovely people to chat to while ordering from Asos and drinking tea.  If you’re reading this, the chances are you know all about the loveliness that is the web, and so I shall […]
