Nailing it: Glossy vs. Matt – #NOTD showcase – Sally Hansen // Models Own // Wet n Wild

Good day ladies of the terrific talons, the gnarly nails, and the curvaceous claws.  If you’re reading this, I’m sure you will already be clued up on all of the wonderful variety we have out there right now when it comes to polish.  Caviar, sequins and gems galore to make our dainty digits stand out.  I want to stick with the basics today and cover my take on matt and glossy finishes.
One of my favourite manicure tools is Sally Hansen Insta-Dry top coat.  Not only does it leave your nails touch dry only minutes after you’ve applied your polish, it gives nails a gorgeous shiny plumpcious gloss finish which is pretty close to a gelish finish.
Here I’m sporting some gorgeous polish from an Isreali brand called careline, which is great.  I’ve finished with the Sally Hansen top coat.  When finished, the mani looked as if it was still wet it was so glossy – but my camera just doesn’t to it justice.
Of course you can always go with a polish that has a specific finish already in the product, with no need to use a top coat.  This mani is using a matte brights set from Claire’s.  The finish was semi-matt and would be perfect as a base for nail art.
When I bought this set it was reduced to just £4 for 6 mini bottles in Claire’s

Wet n Wild Megalast in wet cement //  Next oh so nails in biscuit  //  Models Own Matt Top Coat

These are the products that created one of my fave #NOTD looks of late.  I got the Wet n Wild polish in a UK/USA beauty swap recently and I love it!!  The Models Own matt top coat is a real secret weapon.  It takes the most glossy polish and gives it an instant matt finish.  I am becoming a huge nail polish junkie since I gave up my gel manis, but to save getting the same colour in a variety of finishes, the Models Own Matt top coat and the Sally Hansen Insta-Dry top coat are amazing and will save you a whole lot of money trying to keep on trend.
Here’s a pic showing the matt top coat on the left hand, and none on the right.  I could have made it even more glossy using the Insta-Dry top coat, but I thought this pic showed the comparison well enough as both polishes were gorgeous and super glossy!
What’s your fave?  Do you like plumpcious shine or a subtle matte?  Do you like to mix and match?  I’d love to hear about some of your favourite looks and top products.

  1. I haven't no – but I know so many brands are doing matt top coats now. Does make for different look without buying all new nail lacquers x

  2. You have a lot of nail polish! I only have like 5 or 6 because I'm not really really god at nail art and I don't like painting my nails too. And I prefer shiny top coats than matte ones. XD

  3. I'm more of a shine girl if I'm honest. I think it's just because that what I'm used to seeing all of the time and for so long.

  4. Beauty products are also great and very good for all the people and we can improve the life of the communities. All the people should know about their important things and this post tell them about the beautiful products of life.
