There are so many reasons that I love beauty and fashion that they are just to innumerable to list, but if I did the sheer amount of different ways to change up your look would have to be one of them. I get bored with my toothpaste before I’ve even finished the tube, why would I want to keep my look the same each day? There are so many little things I love to tinker and play with, some obvious and some a little less obvious. Here, in no particular order, are some of my fave fun & funky ways to change up your look.
Having naturally curly hair I have never been in possession of a fringe that didn’t ping into a line of tight ringlets within minutes of being styled. I find wigs a fun and easy way to change up my natural hair colour (without the damage and upkeep), length, style and texture. For a less ‘all in’ option for your barnette try:
#2. Hair pieces
In this pic I am wearing a clip in ponytail, my fave everyday hair choice. The base colour matches my hair (currently black) and I the end of this one have burgundy worked through it. Because of my disabilities, I don’t have the power in my arms for any real amount of styling on my actual hair. With a hairpiece or a wig, you can style and care for them the night before, making your dash to get ready that much easier.
The style choices when it comes to nails are huge. Long or short, natural or acrylic, squared off or oval, and that’s before we even get to colours of polish. I urge you to break away from the everyday reds and pinks and choose something different next time you visit the nail salon. In this pic I am sporting short natural nails, filed gently squoval and painted with a bright orange. The accent nail is covered in nail caviar in lime green and orange.
#4. Coloured contact lenses
In this pic I’m wearing non-prescription coloured contact lenses from Vision Direct. The colour is sapphire green but on my blue eyes they run a gorgeous greeny brown. I love this as an instant, no fuss way to change up your look for any occasion.
Above are just four full faces of makeup broken down into lips and eyes, and just with these four looks are dozens of decisions to make one choice or another. When you add in the face makeup, probably hundreds of barely perceptible decisions to go this way or that. Some days I want simple choices and go for firm favourites, but most days I adore mixing it up and trying different combinations, products and techniques.
