FOTD: My Makeup Face Of The Day – Subtle Siren

Benecos Natural Lipstick in Soft Coral  //  W2 Eyebrow Pencil Deep Brown  //  Alva Natural SkinCare BB Cream in Fair  //  Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder  //  Body Shop Under Eye Concealer  //  Alva Baked Rouge in Shiny Pink  //  Alva Green Equinox loose pigment in Cool Silk  //  Alva Kajal Kohl Liner in Black  //  Alva Mascara in Black  //  Borjois Precision Liner

From my veritable smorgasbord of products here, I think a few things stand out for me.  The first is my love of natural products, and the second is just how many different tweaks can go into getting the look you want.  Here, I was going for a traditional pinup type look but with a subtle edge.  I didn’t want red lippy, as the outfit I wore with this was quite soft and feminine.  I had been urged to try a coral for ages, and this is the first one I have tried that I really love.
I’m very much in love with the power brow, as I love how it changes my face.  The W2 product I used has a long slanted tip which is perfect for power brow in a hurry.
The base is very subtle but effective.  The Alva BB behaves like both a BB and a blur.  By the evening, when I rolled out this look, all I needed to do was dab my T-Zone with a tissue and blot some of everyones favourite Rimmel pressed powder.
As much as I’m in love with bronzer and highlighter for contouring and highlighting right now, I chose to use blush with this look.  It further builds upon the feminine rosebud look I was trying to create.  This baked blush is sublime, and I love to blend in a line just under the cheekbone.  Not quite 80’s statement makeup, but enough to give definition and glow without hard lines.
My eyes began the day with a subtle blue base and blended khol line, but for the evening, it was time for the precision liner.  Just adding width to the eye with a feline flick and extension in towards the nose adds so much.  I did intend to have a far more layered look, but I left some products at home and needed to improvise.  Even so, I think that the subtle shot of cool blue pigment on the lid and the crisp black liner works really well and pulls the look together nicely.
I am in the process of bringing you some brand new bang on trend makeup tutorials, so if you have any requests, please do comment and let me know.
What makeup looks are exciting you right now?  Does your evening makeup differ much from your daytime look?  Do you step outside of your comfort zone and try new looks?

  1. LOL Louise – I think I meant subtle for the lips, but you are right, the eyes are not subtle at all. I love a bold eye and just keep getting more and more daring and loving it every time 🙂
